Metsä Board invests in a capacity increase at its Kaskinen BCTMP mill

In Finland, Metsä Board, the wood products arm of Finland-headed forest industry major Metsä Group has announced that it is investing in a second baling line at its Kaskinen mill. Together with process and grade changes carried out previously this investment will increase the mill's bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) capacity and will improve product consistency and production reliability. The line will be taken into use during November–December 2018.

The EUR 6 million investment will increase the annual capacity by a further 30 000 tonnes to a total of 370 000 tonnes and will help the mill respond to growing demand. The BCTMP produced in Kaskinen on the west coast in Finland and is used both for Metsä Board’s folding boxboard production as well as for market pulp. High quality BCTMP helps provide important properties for folding boxboard such as light weight.
