Cortus Energy has announced that it has received a basic engineering order for a 6 MW biomass gasification plant from Forest Energy, its first order for Japan.

Cortus Energy, a Swedish biomass gasification technology developer has announced that it has received an order from Forest Energy (Kuni Umi Biomass Inc.), a Japanese bioenergy project developer and operator for basic engineering of a 6 MW gasification unit with 2 MW electrical capacity output.

Worth EUR 550 000 the order is part of a recently signed agreement between the two companies to cooperate on joint small-scale biomass to power projects in Japan. It is the first order for Cortus from Japan and this the first facility will provide the basis for future cooperation between the companies.

In parallel with the basic engineering, Forest Energy will determine the final location, secure long-term fuel supply, necessary permits and structured finance for the project. With this in place a final investment decision and an order for a complete plant could be obtained during the first half of 2017. The plant is expected to be in operation for about a year after the project.
