KPA Unicon takes over O&M of Oulu heat plants
KPA Unicon has struck an agreement with Oulun Seudun Sähkö to take over the operation and maintenance of its district heating plants in Oulu, Finland.
Finnish combustion technology developer and supplier KPA Unicon has announced that it has reached an agreement with Finnish energy utility Oulun Seudun Sähkö to take over the operations and maintenance services of its district heating plants in Oulu. The aim of the deal is to increase efficiency and quality of the district heating plant operation. As part of the contract, six heating plant technicians will be transferred from Oulun Seudun Sähkö to KPA Unicon.
In the new operating model, remote control and monitoring are combined with local monitoring of district heating plants. The cooperation ensures continuity and a wide range of resources. KPA Unicon has also a strong know-how of boiler plant technology and a significant supply network. The multi-year service contract includes 24/7 operation of the boiler plants owned by Oulun Seudun Sähkö as well as preventive and annual maintenance and repair work. KPA Unicon is responsible for the development of boiler plant operations and technology, which secures high availability, more power and higher efficiency. Oulun Seudun Sähkö continues to handle all functions related to customers and district heating networks.
