Hotab Biosystems has announced that it has signed a NOK 35 million (≈EUR 3.86 million) contract for the turnkey delivery of a biomass heat plant to the Oslofjord Convention Center in Norway.
Hotab Biosystems AB, a subsidiary of Swedish energy and environmental technology group Pilum AB, has announced that it has signed a contract with Norway-based ILC Construction AS for the turnkey delivery of a biomass-fired heating plant to the Oslofjord Convention Center in Stokke, Norway. The contract value is approximately NOK 35 million (≈ EUR 3.86 million).
– It is with pride we take on this project together with the ILC Construction AS. We supply equipment that is critical to ensure high availability, efficiency and flexibility for our customers. The customer has chosen to build a bioheat centre to reduce environmental impact, said Stefan Wallerman, CEO, Pilum AB.
Major expansion
The Oslofjord Convention Center is undergoing a major expansion phase to 2020. This includes 1 600 new hotel rooms, and a large sports complex. The complex will consist of a 10 000 m2 multi-use hall, a full-scale indoor ice hockey rink and an indoor swimming pool.
In addition, the existing conference building is to be expanded significantly. Once completed, the entire Oslofjord Convention Center’s facility will be 160 000 m2. ILC Construction AS is the general contractor for the project, which has a total contract value in excess of NOK 2 billion (≈ EUR 220 million).
– In order to meet the energy demand for heating the new buildings, a new biomass heating plant is required. The fuel will consist primarily of woodchips and bio-oil. The construction of the heating plant is implemented as a total subcontract between ILC Construction AS and Hotab Biosystems AB. ILC Construction chose Hotab after conducting a comprehensive evaluation based on price and quality, said Kjetil Risa, Head of Technology and Board Member of ILC Construction AS.
