Huddig AB, the Swedish developer, and manufacturer of articulated backhoe loaders has announced that it has switched to renewable diesel (HVO100) across the board. This means all customers will receive their HUDDIG delivered with the tank filled with renewable diesel, while renewable diesel replaces all fossil diesel in company vehicles.
According to a statement, Huddig’s decision to switch entirely to renewable diesel is an important milestone in sustainability work and sets a new standard for sustainable machine production.
I am proud that we are taking a stand for the environment. This investment is a strategic decision that paves the way for a greener future in the industry. It includes test-driving and refueling our machines for customers and also our fleet. We continue to be at the forefront of sustainable development, said Håkan Bäckström, CEO of Huddig.
Marie Fall Selin, Huddig’s Sustainability Coordinator, describes the change as a significant step towards reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the company’s operations.
Thanks to mapping our greenhouse gas emissions from our operations, it has become clear that most of the direct emissions occur during the commissioning of our produced HUDDIG machines and when using our vehicles. Therefore, this is where we will make the biggest difference by switching from diesel to HVO100. We expect to reduce fuel-related emissions by around 75 percent, equivalent to about 70 tonnes of CO2 annually. We hope more vehicle manufacturers will follow our example and do the same, Marie Fall Selin said.
The first machine, test-driven and refueled with renewable diesel, will soon roll out of the assembly plant.
By ensuring that the machine is refueled with renewable diesel upon delivery, Huddig wants to motivate contractors to continue driving on renewable fuel.
Each time a HUDDIG is refueled with HVO, we and our customers make a difference for the environment. We continue to involve more people in sustainability work, Håkan Bäckström concluded.
