The Ministry of Economy of Montenegro is launching the implementation of the Energy Wood III programme, which aims is to establish an "attractive and sustainable financial mechanism" for providing zero interest loans to households for installing modern biomass-based heating systems.

The Ministry of Economy of Montenegro announced August 4 a public call to biomass heating dealers and installers for participation in the Energy Wood III programme. According to a statement, the programme which builds on the implementation of two previous switch-out programmes, aims is to establish an attractive and sustainable financial mechanism for providing zero interest loans to households for installing heating systems on modern biomass such as pellets and briquettes.
The Ministry of Economy has provided funds in the amount EUR 50 000 euros in order to implement the Energy Wood III programme. Under favourable conditions, citizens will get the chance to replace old heating systems with modern efficient technologies, which have less operational costs and considerably less negative impact on the environment.
The objective of the programme is to:
- achieve economic and energy savings through the introduction of high-efficiency technologies
- contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the use of energy sources that have a less harmful impact on the environment
- create markets for greater use of heating systems on modern biomass fuels
Biomass heating equipment dealers and installers are invited to apply for the invitation to tender with the deadline for submission of bids under this call by September 6, 2017.
