As Wels as expected

The annual World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED), in Wels, Austria is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe. And this year it provided, as it has come to be expected, a unique combination of events on sustainable energy.

The “Pellets - facts vs fiction” panel discussion was lively and insightful. According to the organisers OÖ Energiesparverband (Energy Agency Upper Austria) around 700 delegates from 57 countries took part in this year’s edition. For those specifically interested in biomass and pellets, a logistical compromise had to be made as the event also collided with Progetto Fuoco in Verona, Italy.

This time the Italians drew the short straw as far as their pellet conference was concerned. For 2018 one can hope that the organising powers reach a more amicable arrangement.

The 2016 European Pellet Conference at Wels, one of six concurrent conference streams, had a number of interesting highlights and the conference report can be found here. The next WSED will take place 1-3 March 2017.
