According to Reuters, the US arm of global oil major Royal Dutch Shell Plc has filed a bid in excess of US$26 million to acquire Abengoa SA’s 25 million gallon per annum (≈ 95 million litres) cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, Kansas. Citing the filing with the Kansas bankruptcy court, the amount offered is a so-called “stalking horse” bid used as the starting sum in the auction proceedings.
