Nel awarded US contract for H2Station

Nel Hydrogen Inc., a subsidiary of Norway-headed hydrogen technology specialists Nel ASA, has announced that it has entered into a contract for delivery of an H2Station solution for fueling of heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) to an undisclosed client in the United States (US).

We are happy to have secured a significant H2Station order for fueling of heavy-duty vehicles in the U.S. As the deployment of hydrogen as a fuel for the heavy-duty sector is moving faster than expected, we are also gearing up our efforts and technology developments more toward offering solutions that can accommodate growth in this segment, said Jon André Løkke, CEO of Nel.

According to Nel, the H2Station order has a total value in excess of US$6 million. The H2Station equipment will be deployed at an undisclosed location in the US and will be capable of fueling both heavy duty trucks as well as light-duty vehicles. The work related to the contract will start soon and exact delivery time to be agreed.

It is a pleasure to support our customer in their hydrogen deployment in the US, and it is encouraging to see an increasing number of industry-wide initiatives shifting away from diesel as a fuel over to renewable hydrogen for heavy-duty applications, said Løkke.

In April 2018, Nel launched a new H2Station hydrogen refueling station product with increased fueling capacity of up to 100 cars or 50 buses per day per dispenser thanks to new compression technology (photo courtesy Nel).
