Sweden-headed Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation, and fluid handling – has announced that it has been selected by US-headed independent petroleum refiner and marketer HollyFrontier Corporation (HollyFrontier) to supply oil and fats pre-treatment processing technology to support renewable diesel production.
Earlier this year HollyFrontier announced that it would convert its Cheyenne refinery in Wyoming (WY) to renewable diesel production and to construct a pre-treatment unit (PTU) at its Artesia Refinery in New Mexico (NM).
Worth approximately SEK 130 million (≈ US$14.76 million), the order comprises of Alfa Laval high-speed separators and various compact heat exchangers along with other equipment, engineering, and services to provide a pre-treatment processing plant to remove contaminants from fats and oil feedstock prior to the conversion to renewable diesel fuel – HVO.
The delivery of equipment is scheduled for 2021.
I am very pleased to announce this large order in the renewable energy area. Our various products used in the pre-treatment process are recognized for their efficiency and reliable performance. This order confirms our customer’s trust in our equipment, said Nish Patel, President of Alfa Laval Food & Water Division.
