PowerCell Sweden receives agriculture and aerospace orders
Swedish hydrogen fuel cell technology developers PowerCell Sweden AB (PowerCell) has announced that it has received fuel cell system orders from a global agriculture equipment manufacturer in the United States (US) as well as from a European research center.
In the former, PowerCell has received a follow-on order for two 100 kW fuel cell systems, the value of which has not been disclosed, that will be used for further tests of electrification of tractors using fuel cells and hydrogen and will be delivered during the fourth quarter 2021.
The fuel cell system has been developed for the electrification of, among other things, vehicles within the off-road segment, i.e., material handling equipment, construction equipment, and various other types of vehicles such as agriculture equipment.
The off-road segment requires a reliable operation, high power output, and flexibility but also a good ability to withstand shocks and vibrations.
In the latter also to be delivered during the second half of 2021, PowerCell has received an order for several MS-100 fuel cell systems for non-commercial use from a European research center.
Worth a total of SEK 25 million (≈ EUR 2.4 million), the unnamed research center will use the systems in a test environment for hydrogen-electric, fuel cell-based aerospace drivetrains.
