Prodesa selected by Pinnacle to supply low-temperature belt dryer to High Level

Prodesa North America, the North American arm of Spain-headed biomass dryer and densification technology developer and provider Prodesa Medioambiente S.L. has recently announced that it has been selected by Pinnacle Renewable Energy Inc. (Pinnacle) for the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of a low-temperature belt dryer for Pinnacle's new wood pellet plant in High Level, Alberta (AB), Canada that is currently under construction.

The selected dryer for this 210 000 tonne per annum capacity wood pellet plant – a joint venture with Tolko Industries Ltd – is a low-temperature belt dryer. According to Prodesa, low-temperature dryers allow reaching a higher product quality thanks to “gentle drying” that keeps the physical and chemical product properties unaltered, while the electricity consumption is the lowest of all available dryer technologies.

For Prodesa, this new project, the fourth in Canada, consolidates the company’s position in the Canadian pellet industry and strengthens Canada as a priority market for Prodesa. Previously the company has supplied pellet manufacturing technology to the Skeena Sawmills, J. D. Irving and Granule 777.
