Urbas implementing biomass-fired district heating for Klagenfurt

Austrian biomass combustion technology engineers, Urbas Energietechnik, part of Urbas Maschinenfabrik GmbH has revealed that it has been contracted by local district heating providers Stadtwerke Klagenfurt to implement a new biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Liebenfels, Carinthia.

According to a statement, the new plant will produce heat for the network of Stadtwerke Klagenfurt. Urbas Energietechnik is implementing this biomass power plant. The boiler has an evaporation capacity of 28 tonnes per hour, from which 5 MWe and 18 MWth are generated. In addition, a downstream flue gas condensation and heat pump provide an additional thermal capacity of around 7 MW. The cogeneration plant will go live at the end of 2017.
