Turboden and Bono Sistemi have revealed a new jointly developed “Steam & Power” (ST&P) ORC system. The new unit allows the production of electricity and a valuable high temperature heat carrier, such as steam, for direct usage in manufacturing processes.
Italy-based Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) specialists Turboden, a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and industrial boiler manufacturer Bono Sistemi, part of Cannon Group have revealed a new jointly developed “Steam & Power” (ST&P) ORC system. The new unit allows the production of electricity and a valuable high temperature heat carrier, such as steam, for direct usage in manufacturing processes. Launched in Milan, Italy during the Power Gen Europe trade show, the innovative principle of Steam & Power ORC is the temperature level of the cycle, allowing the cogeneration of electricity and medium pressure steam with a very high overall energy efficiency. Effective combined heat and power (CHP) systems satisfy directly the thermal requirement of the manufacturing process minimizing energy losses. Many such processes require thermal energy in the form of steam, with different pressure levels depending on the application. According to Turboden its new ST&P ORC addresses manufacturing processes requiring medium pressure steam efficiently and economically.
