ZE Energy Inc., a Japanese developer and manufacturer of biomass heat and power technology has revealed that it has been awarded a contract by compatriot Air Water Inc., a major business conglomerate, to supply a gasification unit for a combined heat and power (CHP) plant to be built in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

According to a statement, the company will supply a 3.8 MWth and 1.9 MWe wood gasification unit and the plant is scheduled to begin operations by April 2016 supplying the electricity to the grid.
The plant will use woodchips derived from local forest thinnings as fuel thereby taking advantage of the highest feed-in tariff (FIT) rate for the electricity which was increased by JPY 8 to JPY 40 per kW as of April. ZE Energy expects to see growing demand for similar scale projects due to the improvement of business case profitability.
