Finland-headed forest industry and energy technology major Valmet Oyj has announced that it has successfully completed its first full scope operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement at Uni Viridas' Babina Greda biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Croatia.

In spring 2015, Valmet signed the first agreement of its kind for full-scope operation and maintenance (O&M) with Uni Viridas d.o.o., a special-purpose entity of Unit Investment N.V. in Croatia. for its biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Babina Greda, Croatia.
The start-up of the new plant was in August 2015. The power plant and the automation system has been supplied by Valmet. The services agreement is a logical extension of Valmet’s earlier project delivery. The agreement includes a mobilization period and an operating period of two years, with an option to continue. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
We are committed to moving our customer’s performance forward. With this contract we have expanded our services offering by daily operation and maintenance of the plant providing improved reliability in line with Valmet’s new services approach, Shared Journey Forward. It is also an important development step in our agreement based services business, commented Kai Mäenpää, Vice President of Energy Sales & Services at Valmet.
The Babina Greda biomass-based combined heat and power plant’s electricity capacity is 9.7 MW and heat capacity 10 MW.
