In the Netherlands, Sweden-headed shippers Thun Tankers AB held a naming ceremony and launch of a new E-class vessel from Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V in Westerbroek. ”Thun Eos” is the first vessel in a series of four new dual fuel vessels in the E-class capable of running on marine gas oil (MGO) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marks a further development of Thun Tankers’ existing fleet.

According to a statement, the focus is on efficiency, new regulations, environmental care, and customers’ needs when developing the new vessels that are being built to the absolute latest design. ”Thun Eos” is the first vessel in a series of four new tanker vessels in the new E-class.

The vessels are a further evolvement of Thun Tankers’ existing G-class fleet and focus on efficiency, environmental care and customers’ needs have been essential when developing the new vessels. According to the company, the E-class vessels are being built to the absolute latest design meeting and often exceeding existing and forthcoming regulations.

The vessels are being built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V. in the Netherlands with whom the company has a long-standing relationship with having already supplied over thirty vessels to Erik Thun.
