Alkagesta strengthens aviation presence with IATA strategic partnership
MEPs adopt RefuelEU aviation rules obliging EU airports and fuel suppliers to ensure that, starting from 2025, at least 2 percent of aviation fuels will be ‘green’ sustainable aviation fuels.

Malta-headed global commodity trading house Alkagesta Holding Co Ltd (Alkagesta) has announced that it has been onboarded as a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global trade body representing the airline industry. The development reflects the company’s growing involvement in aviation fuel supply and related logistics.

IATA plays a central role in establishing industry standards, supporting operational efficiency, and facilitating coordination among stakeholders across the air transport sector.

The partnership follows the launch of Alkagesta’s jet fuels trading book earlier this year, marking a gradual expansion into the aviation segment.

Alkagesta’s access to European logistics routes via NATO’s CEPS pipeline has highlighted the company’s increasing presence in aviation fuel markets and its ability to supply major European airports.

The company has already secured two airline tenders to supply jet fuel to Stuttgart (STR) and Cologne (CGN) airports in Germany, as well as Brussels Airport (BRU) in Belgium. The supply agreements, scheduled to begin in spring 2026, amount to roughly 200,000 barrels in the first year.

Deliveries will include sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blended in accordance with the European Union’s 2 percent SAF mandate.
