Attracting over 450 participants, the annual European Pellet Conference, part of the World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED) in Wels, Austria, is the meeting place for the global pellet community. With just two weeks to go until WSED 2026, over 600 participants from 58 countries have already registered, according to the organizers, OÖ Energiesparverband (the Upper Austrian Energy Agency).
Europe must urgently reduce its dependence on fossil fuel imports. Pellets can play an expanding role in Europe’s defossilization, reducing its dependence on fossil fuel imports.
While challenges such as increasing electrification, reluctance to invest, and policy uncertainties remain, opportunities are emerging from new applications such as bioenergy with carbon capture, utilization, and/or storage (BECCUS), biochar, and biomaterials.
These and other pertinent pellet issues will be discussed at the European Pellet Conference taking place in Wels on February 25, 2026.
Here, leading international speakers will present the latest trends in markets, policies, technologies, innovations, and other developments in the pellet and bioenergy world.
