Germany-headed biogas producer and technology provider EnviTec Biogas AG has announced that it has signed three new biogas upgrading technology supply contracts with first-time customers in Bavaria, Bremen, and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
With the project in Biburg, Lower Bavaria, EnviTec Biogas is establishing a presence in the Bavarian market for the first time, following the construction of 112 plants across Germany.
The customer already operates a gas upgrading plant using water scrubbing technology, which will be decommissioned once our EnviThan upgrading plant has been installed. A key advantage of this project is that we are also supplying the booster compressor required to achieve the necessary grid pressure. This allowed us to significantly accelerate the overall grid injection process, explained Christian Eilert, Area Sales Manager DACH at EnviTec Biogas.
The initial grid feed-in date for the 1,000 Nm³/h biomethane plant has already been set: from July 2026, the plant is expected to begin injecting into the local network.
Nearly two years passed between our first contact at the Biogas Convention & Trade Fair in Nuremberg in 2023 and the signing of the contract – two years marked by political uncertainties, constantly changing market conditions and lengthy permitting procedures, remarked Benedikt Bachmeier of Bioenergie Biburg.
In addition to the time savings and low power consumption of the EnviThan plant, the customer was particularly impressed by EnviTec’s customised design approach.
Given the structural constraints of the existing biogas plant, space on site is limited. However, our flexible container-based construction enables us to accommodate the conditions effectively, Christian Eilert said.
The EnviTec team is also responding flexibly to the site conditions of its second new customer, Hamme Energie GmbH & Co. KG, located in Osterholz-Scharmbeck near Bremen.
Here too, we are constructing a gas upgrading plant as an extension to the existing biogas plant, Christian Eilert said.
The EnviThan system is scheduled for delivery in March 2026. The 137 Nm³/h EnviThan plant can be upgraded onsite to 232 Nm³/h of biomethane by simply adding membranes.
The biomethane produced will be fed into the network of Osterholzer Stadtwerke. The biogas plant uses dairy cattle slurry, cattle manure and silage maize from the company’s own farming operations.
The third contract was signed in Reichardtswerben in Saxony-Anhalt. The plant, being built for a Dutch operator of a large dairy farming enterprise, can be expanded from 200 Nm³/h biomethane in its initial configuration to 400 Nm³/h.
Once completed, it is intended to inject into the Ontras network to supply the fuel market.
For this project as well, we have already ordered all components and can begin production as soon as the container arrives, remarked Christian Eilert.
All newly secured projects involve gas upgrading plants that will be manufactured at EnviTec’s Saerbeck site in North Rhine-Westphalia over the coming months.
