In the United States (US), Enviva LLC, the world's largest industrial wood pellet producer, has announced that has closed its Amory pellet plant in Mississippi citing "market dynamics and the facility's infrastructure and operations."

Effective on February 7, 2025, the 115,000 tonne per annum pellet plant in Amory ceased operations.

As part of our post-emergence exercises, we are reviewing the overall operational efficiencies of our entire fleet. Due to market dynamics and the Amory facility’s infrastructure and operations, along with the relationship of its size and scale relative to the rest of our portfolio, it has been decided that resources are better invested in other areas moving forward, the statement said.

The Amory pellet site was Enviva’s first US-operated plant, acquired from CKS Energy in 2010. Enviva LLC now owns and operates nine pellet plants located in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi, exporting its wood pellets to global markets through its deep-water marine terminals at the Port of Chesapeake, Virginia, the Port of Wilmington, North Carolina, and the Port of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and from third-party deep-water marine terminals in the Port of Savannah, Georgia, Port of Mobile, Alabama, and Panama City, Florida.

We are deeply grateful for the hard work and dedication of all those who have contributed to the Amory facility over the years, and we are committed to supporting our team through this transition. Enviva remains committed to manufacturing high-quality sustainable wood pellets and is focused on the long-term success of our business as we navigate these changes, the statement ended.
