In Canada, Ontario-based company FireRein, Inc., has announced that it has secured an issued composition of matter patent, for its "Eco-Gel", a proprietary bio-based firefighting water additive.
Eco-Gel, which, according to FireRein is the world’s first 100 percent bio-sourced and 100 percent food-grade fire suppression water additive, that is instantly transformed into a highly effective firefighting hydrogel when introduced into a water stream at concentrations ranging from 2-5 percent by volume.
When deployed through standard firefighting equipment, Eco-Gel transforms water into a potent firefighting solution that “sticks and stays” to any surface in any orientation outperforming incumbent water additives by knocking down fires faster while using less water and protecting the environment.
It is also the only firefighting water additive certified by UL and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to be 100 percent bio-based.
