Switzerland-headed Kanadevia Inova AG, a global leader in solutions for the energy transition and circular economy, has announced the acquisition of the majority of Denmark-based Babcock & Wilcox A/S (B&W) assets, bolstering its team in the country and boosting support for customers across the Nordics and Europe.

B&W A/S is a US-headed Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. (B&W) subsidiary. The agreement covers Vølund grate technology, references, and licences globally.

The deal will reunite a team that was briefly separated when Kanadevia Inova acquired the B&W Renewable Service A/S unit in Denmark last year, bringing in additional advanced upgrade capabilities to support full plant lifecycle solutions.

The employees transferring from B&W will be based primarily in Holsted and Taastrup, Denmark.

This will bring the number of Kanadevia Inova Denmark employees to more than 200 and considerably broaden the company’s service capacity in a dense and aging waste infrastructure market.

Under the agreement, Kanadevia Inova and B&W will evaluate potential cooperation for future projects involving B&W’s “BrightLoop” chemical looping process to produce low-carbon hydrogen, steam, or syngas while isolating carbon dioxide (CO2) for carbon capture, usage, and/or storage (CCUS).

Additionally, Kanadevia Inova and B&W intend to work collaboratively on greenfield Waste-to-X (WtX) plants on a project-by-project basis in the United States and Canada, leveraging Kanadevia Inova’s industry-leading thermal treatment technology and B&W’s considerable experience in designing, supplying, and servicing some of the world’s cleanest and most efficient waste management infrastructures.
