Finland-headed oil refiner and renewable fuels producer Neste has announced that it has sold its Pietarsaari (Jakobstad) terminal in Finland to Wibax AB, a Swedish company specialised in the sourcing, storage, processing, sales and distribution of bulk liquid chemicals and biofuels to industry.
Although the sales price remains undisclosed, the acquisition of the terminal by Wibax is part of a approximately SEK 50 million investment (≈ EUR 5.26 million) by the company in expanding its storage and logistics capacity to serve the Finnish market.
Built in the 1960’s the 4.3 ha terminal has sea, road and rail transport access and consists of ten tanks with a total storage capacity of ≈ 46,000 m3 with permits for the storage of chemicals and fuels.
According to Neste, the terminal has not been used for its own operations for many years because the tanks and other facilities are not suitable for storing oil products without investments. Neste has been offering terminal and operations services for chemicals to a third-party customer.
