Nordic energy utility infrastructure company Nevel Group has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Swedish Municipality of Eda to acquire its energy company Eda Energi AB.

Nevel Group currently operates over 130 energy production sites and manages over 40 district heating networks in Estonia, Finland, and Sweden.

Eda Energi’s business activities comprise the operation, maintenance, distribution, and sales of district heating services to 130 municipal, industrial, and private customers. The annual volume of energy sold is around 9 GWh.

According to Nevel, the acquisition brings a wide variety of benefits for district heating customers in Eda who will benefit from more efficient resource use and improved processes in heat production and distribution.

Eda Energi will become an important part of Nevel. Thanks to our experience in owning and operating district heating networks, district heating customers in Eda will benefit from synergies throughout the entire value chain, from technology development to fuel procurement, maintenance, and operations. In the long term, Nevel will contribute to more efficient district heating in Eda Municipality through continuous improvements, said Peter Bäckström, Director of Real Estate Solutions at Nevel.

Since 2022, Nevel has been contributing to more sustainable energy production in Eda municipality through its facility in Åmotfors, which annually produces 9 GWh of energy for industrial and municipal customers, including Nordic Paper.

We are pleased that Nevel takes a holistic approach to both energy production and distribution in Åmotfors. For Eda Energi AB’s customers, this means a stronger and more cohesive solution, with better opportunities to optimise energy efficiency sustainably in the long term, said Hanna Andersson, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board, Eda Municipality.

The delivery of district heating to customers will continue as normal, while the value of the agreed acquisition has not been disclosed.
