Spain-headed dryer technology and biomass densification provider Prodesa Medioambiente (Prodesa) has announced that it has been selected by US-based Enviva Partners LP (Enviva), the world's largest wood pellet producer, to supply an additional pelleting line for the Enviva Pellets Greenwood plant in Greenwood, South Carolina (SC).

According to a statement, the order, the value of which has not been disclosed, is for new three pellet mills. These will join the existing 15 pellet mills and will add an extra production of 14 tonnes per hour.
Once the equipment is in operation, Prodesa’s after-sales division, Smart Operations, will ensure maximum uptime of the plant.
In operation since 2016, the Greenwood facility was originally developed by Colombo Energy, a subsidiary of the Portuguese pulp and paper major The Navigator Company SA (formerly known as the Portucel Soporcel Group) before it was acquired by Enviva JV Development Company in 2018.
Earlier this year, Enviva Partners acquired the plant and announced it planned to increase annual production capacity to 600 000 tonnes by 2021 subject to receiving necessay permits.
One of three EPC contractors for the 500 000 tonnes per annum greenfield plant, it was the single largest EPC contract for Prodesa that supplied the pelleting island.
