Denmark-headed Topsoe A/S, a global leader in carbon emission reduction technologies, has announced that it has signed licensing and engineering agreements with US-based Santa Maria Renewable Resources LLC (SMRR), a vertically integrated biofuels and sustainable agriculture company, to develop a project, focusing on the production of renewable fuels from various renewable feedstocks.

The proposed project, located in East Texas, plans to produce a combination of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) at a production capacity of 3,000 bbl/d.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Santa Maria on this project. Our shared commitment to supporting the renewable fuels market makes this collaboration a natural fit, and we look forward to seeing the positive impacts this project will bring, said Henrik Rasmussen, Managing Director, The Americas, Topsoe.

The project will contribute to reducing emissions in the long-distance transportation and aviation sectors.

Topsoe offers the optimal package of technical services for us to develop our renewable fuels project. The Topsoe team understands our value proposition and was very responsive towards deploying their proven technology in our integrated circular economy project, said Pat Sanchez, Founder and CEO of Santa Maria Renewable Resources.

Topsoe will provide its “HydroFlex” process layout integrated with the company’s “H2bridge” technology to further reduce the carbon intensity of the renewable jet and diesel produced from the plant.

Additionally, SMRR has partnered with Chemex Global, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Shaw Group, to commence the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the facility in East Texas.

We’re pleased to join forces with SMRR and bring our industry-leading renewable energy project design and execution expertise to this project, said Matt Rodgers, Chief Commercial Officer, Chemex Global.

Chemex Global is a globally established EPC/EPCM firm specializing in modular and conventional refinery and energy construction projects.

The collaboration with Topsoe and Chemex Global marks a significant company milestone, amplifying the potential of our project. The incorporation of these licenses, complemented by tailored engineering insights from both organizations will seamlessly integrate into our ongoing front-end engineering design. We’re pleased to collaborate with these industry experts ensuring the smooth progression of this project, ended Pat Sanchez,
