In Japan, Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO), an international infrastructure and industrial engineering and construction company, has announced that it has been awarded a contract for a project to construct a 50 MW biomass power plant. This plant will be built in Tahara-shi, Aichi Prefecture for Tahara Green Biomass GK which is jointly established by ITOCHU Corporation, Kyuden Mirai Energy Company, and TOKYU LAND CORPORATION Inc.
According to a statement, this project is to construct a highly efficient dedicated biomass-fired power plant using wood biomass fuel. The plant will be based on the reheat system whereby steam, after expansion through a high-pressure steam turbine, is sent back and reheated in the boiler, then resent to the low-pressure steam turbine for further expansion.
TOYO will carry out the EPC contract, the value of which has not been disclosed, on a full turn-key basis that includes engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for a power generation unit. Completion is scheduled for 2025.
For TOYO this biomass power project is the tenth project, after the seven 50 MW class and two 75 MW class projects currently under construction.
