Toyo Engineering awarded EPC for Yonago biomass power project

In Japan, Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO), an international infrastructure and industrial engineering and construction company, has announced that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to construct a 54.5 MWe biomass power plant. This plant will be built in Yonago-shi, Tottori Prefecture, Japan for Yonago Biomass Power Generation LLC.

Developed by New Energy Development Co., Ltd, Yonago Biomass Power Generation LLC is a special purpose vehicle jointly owned by Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Tokyu Land Corporation, Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Company Ltd. and New Energy Development Co., Ltd.

TOYO will carry out the EPC turnkey contract on a full turn-key basis that includes engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for a power generation unit. The plant will use wood pellets as the primary fuel and the facility is estimated to be completed in 2022.

This award also marks TOYO’s third order for 50 MW biomass power plants.
