Valmet to supply chipping line and defibrator system to Greenply

Finland-based Valmet will deliver a chipping line and defibrator system for medium-density fibreboard (MDF) production to a new fiberboard mill for Greenply Industries Ltd (GIL) in Routhu Suramala, Mandal in Andhra Pradesh state, India. GIL is the largest interior infrastructure company in India and accounts for almost 36 percent of the organized plywood market in the country.

The scope of supply includes the frontend system consisting of a chipping line and a defibrator system of type EVO 70. The chipping line will be equipped with a new high capacity drum chipper from Valmet, the first such chipper installation and will use round wood, waste wood, slabs, trimmings, edges and veneer residuals.

– Greenply is a longstanding customer to us, and we highly value the long-term partnership with them. This will be the first time our new drum chipper is installed and we are really excited about that, said Leif Sundberg, Sales Manager at Valmet

Chip storage, screening, control system, chip washer and a separate line for handling of third-party delivered chips is also included in the delivery. Though the value of the order has not been disclosed, Valmet suggests that typically this scope of supply is usually in the range of EUR 5-10 million.

– We decided to place the order with Valmet because the solution they offered will minimize our operational costs and secure a high quality end product. Having Valmet equipment at our existing plant, and our positive experience with them, has made us prefer to go with Valmet again for our new plant equipment supply, said Shobhan Mittal, CEO at Greenply.
