Wibax strengthens position in northern Sweden with terminal investments

Sweden-headed sustainable chemical and biofuels supplier Wibax AB has announced that it is investing a total of SEK 15 million (≈ EUR 1.38 million) in two new terminals in the Port of Skellefteå (Skelleftehamn), northern Sweden. These are in close proximity to Wibax's existing terminals in the area."Wibax continues to grow and with this investment, we want to further strengthen our presence in the northern region," says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group.

The terminals in Skelleftehamn are Wibax’s second most northerly and are strategically located for deliveries to many of Wibax’s customers. The investment means that we will strengthen the current tank farm portfolio with a further 22 cisterns with a total storage capacity of 94 000 m³. Together, these have a storage capacity of 177 000 m³ and a total of 44 cisterns of varying sizes.

The terminals are suited for handling ship, rail and tanker truck transportation. The investment strengthens Wibax’s total storage and logistics capacity in the region and means that the company controls all terminals for liquid bulk goods in Skelleftehamn.

Strategic investment in an expansive region

According to Wibax, the development that is currently taking place in Skellefteå will be of great importance to the municipality as well as the entire Northern Region, Sweden, and industry in Europe. Large industrial investments, such as battery production, will contribute to more interesting establishments.

The investment is therefore primarily of a strategic nature, considering everything that is happening in the area and Wibax believes that there will be a great need for efficient and reliable logistics solutions for liquid products.

The ambition with our terminals is to, together with our vehicles, offer a unique logistics solution and be close to our customers to minimize freight traffic and maximize delivery security, said Magnus Sundström, Managing Director Wibax Logistics

Wibax has a total of nine terminals strategically located in different locations in Sweden, as well as one in Finland. The total storage capacity increases with this investment to approximately 460 000 m³. The terminals are of a very high standard, with high-security requirements.
