Consortium sign contract for Hamamatsu City water project

Hamamatsu Water Symphony K.K (HWS), a special purpose company formed by Veolia Japan, Veolia Jenets, JFE Engineering Corporation, ORIX Corporation, SUYAMA CONSTRUCTION and TOKYU CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD as the operator of "Hamamatsu City Public Wastewater Treatment Plant (Seien Area) Operation Project" has signed a contract with Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan for the implementation of the project.

According to a statement form JFE Engineering, one of the partners in the Hamamatsu City Public Wastewater Treatment Plant (Seien Area) Operation Project, the scope of the project is operations including O&M, repair and refurbishment for Seien Wastewater Treatment Center, Hamana Relay Pump Station and Akura Relay Pump Station.

The contract period is from October 30, 2017, to March 31, 2038, with a possible extension to March 31, 2043, subject to both parties agreeing. The official launch of the project is expected to be April 1, 2018.

This project is the first wastewater concession project in Japan, which is drawing attention as a new operational method in the sector. HWS will make maximum use of each shareholder’s know-how to achieve sustainable operation of the project and to contribute to the local community.
