The Netherlands-based bioenergy technology specialists HoSt has announced that its subsidiary Bright Biomethane has begun construction of its first biogas-to-biomethane upgrading system delivery to Spain.

In the Spanish village ‘Vila-Sana’, the biogas produced at the ‘Porgaporcs’ pig farm will be upgraded to biomethane in a Bright Biomethane system. This biomethane will then be compressed and used as a vehicle fuel for a demonstration project. In the future, the biomethane will be probably injected into the Spanish national distribution gas grid.
The biogas upgrading installation will have a capacity of 200 Nm3/hr and the project is led by Gas Natural Fenosa (GNF) as part of their participation in the LIFE+ project Methamorphosis, a European financed project with the objective to recover energy from organic solid waste from both municipal, agro-industrial and farming sources to obtain alternative and sustainable fuels.
