EnviTec Biogas is already building a biogas plant in the province of Shanxi. The 1 570 m3 biogas plant currently being built about 500 km southwest of Beijing, marks the fifth successful construction project in China and is due to be completed before the end of this year. A sixth plant is also currently in planning.

To further develop what is still an emerging biogas market in China, EnviTec signed a cooperation agreement with an undisclosed Chinese partner company in Berlin, Germany on September 5.

Signing this agreement is a major milestone for our company and our local partners, in terms of the funding and positioning of the versatile fuel biogas in the country’s climate policy. The company’s business partner will have local responsibility for project development. This includes searching for suitable sites in the province of Shanxi, as well as obtaining the necessary permits and funding, and submitting applications for potential subsidies, said Jörg Fischer, CFO, EnviTec Biogas.

In the future partnership, EnviTec will handle all engineering work and provide expertise for the construction of the 20 plants planned.

This not only includes the entire planning, construction and commissioning phase but also involves using our long-standing technical and biological service know-how, said Fischer.

According to Fischer, environmental awareness is growing in China, and with it a demand for sustainable, renewable energy sources such as biogas.

China offers an enormous market potential for our innovative biogas technology. With our Chinese partner at our side, and especially in light of our wealth of international experience, we believe we are ideally placed to achieve our shared – and ambitious – plans for the future, ended Jörg Fischer.
