According to a statement, SVEZA Group is planning to construct a modern pulp mill in the Vologda region. In November 2017, SVEZA selected Valmet as a partner to execute the potential pulp mill’s basic engineering for the main process departments of the entire pulp production technology, including the woodyard, fiberline, pulp dryer, recovery boiler, power boiler, white liquor plant and evaporation, which has now been completed.
The companies have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the objective of further cooperation in the planned pulp mill project. SVEZA is now proceeding with preparations, including environmental permits, for the possible pulp mill.
The signing of the document is a significant part of a large-scale assessment of the prospects for creating a cutting-edge production based on the latest technologies. Our actions reaffirm our determination to the technological development of the economy, maximum safety, environmental friendliness and fostering industrial growth in the regions of presence, the economic effect of which will be significant, said Anatoly Frishman, General Director of SVEZA.
According to SVEZA, the project is unique among other Russian large-scale projects because it has “world-class environmental efficiency” and presents a conceptually new type of a pulp mill. Here, SVEZA relies on Valmet as a provider of best available technology and solutions.
SVEZA-Les choosing Valmet as a partner for the negotiations regarding its possible new pulp mill is a sign of strong trust in Valmet’s knowledge and capability as a complete pulp mill technology partner. There is market activity in Russia for pulp investments and during the past few years we have had several rebuild and expansion projects in Russia, said Bertel Karlstedt, Business Line President, Pulp and Energy from Valmet.
