Austria-headed international technology group Andritz AG (ANDRITZ) has announced that it has received an order from Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO), Japan, to deliver a PowerFluid circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler with a flue gas cleaning system. The boiler will be part of a new biomass power plant to be built in Niigata East Port in Niigata Prefecture, Honshu Island, some 300 km north of Tokyo, Japan
The ANDRITZ PowerFluid (CFB) boiler with reheating system to be supplied features low emissions, high efficiency, and availability, as well as high fuel flexibility. It will form an essential part of a high-efficiency biomass power plant for the supply of green energy to the national grid.
The biomass power plant fired with wood pellets and palm kernel shells (PKS) will generate around 50 MWe of power. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in 2024.
According to Andritz, this is the tenth order for the supply of a PowerFluid CFB boiler to the Japanese market. The value of the order has not been disclosed.
