"Energy transition now – fast, smart, resilient!" was the motto of the 2024 edition of World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED). The conference showed how to realize the high policy ambitions of the upcoming EU legislation and strengthen the clean energy markets.
The European Pellet Conference, the largest annual gathering of its kind, focused on the energy price crisis, climate crisis, and threats to energy security which have promoted consumers, companies, and countries to take unprecedented measures.
As sustainably sourced biomass is inherently a carbon dioxide (CO2)-neutral energy source, sustainable bioenergy is a key component in climate protection.

As usual, the event presented the latest market trends, policy updates, technologies, and innovations, helping the around 400 participants at the conference stay abreast of developments in the pellet and bioenergy world.
With the European Parliament elections to be held on June 9, 2024, this year’s edition of EPC came at a pivotal moment.
The conference showed how the acceptance of pellets as an important element in the clean energy transition could be regained, and how the positive contribution of pellets to the circular bioeconomy can be increased – not least with Austria as a case in point.
Other highlights of the European Pellet Conference were the “Pellet Innovation Session”, which showcased cutting-edge developments and R&D results in the pellet and bioenergy sectors, and the “World of Pellets Session”, where international experts offered up-to-date information on pellet markets around the globe.
The “Energiesparmesse”, a leading tradeshow on energy efficiency and renewable energy, took place concurrently with WSED. Here, Austrian and international companies presented their latest product innovations to the 82,000 visitors.
The next European pellet Conference is scheduled to take place on March 5, 2025, in Wels, Austria as part of WSED 2025, which will be held from March 5 – 7 2025. The deadline for the Call for Papers is October 10, 2024.
