In Sweden, energy infrastructure company Nordion Energi AB has announced that it has completed the acquisition of E.ON Sweden's 50 percent stake in the municipal energy company Kalmar Energi AB. As a result, Nordion Energi and the Municipality of Kalmar are now joint owners of Kalmar Energi. The partnership includes electricity distribution, district heating and fibre infrastructure.
Nordion Energi operates in the field of energy infrastructure and currently comprises the electricity grid operator Falbygdens Energi AB and the electricity grid and fibre operator Dala Energi AB, the latter of which is jointly owned by the municipalities of Rättvik, Leksand and Gagnef, as well as the investment firm Siljansvik AB.
Nordion Energi is also a leading operator of gas infrastructure and owns and operates transmission grid operator Swedegas and distribution network Weum.

Kalmar Energi supplies electricity, district heating, fibre and energy services to approximately 24,000 electricity trading customers, approximately 2,500 district heating customers and approximately 22,000 electricity grid customers.
In the electricity retail business, Siljansvik has become a new co-owner alongside the Municipality of Kalmar.

The value of the transaction, which was recently adopted by Kalmar municipal council and approved by relevant government agencies, has not been disclosed.
