Amec Foster Wheeler (AMEC) has announced that it has been awarded a contract and received notice to proceed to design and supply a 299 MWe (gross) circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generator for the Tees Renewable Energy Plant, in Teesside, UK for MGT Teesside Ltd.
UK-headed global energy, chemical, and infrastructure technology provider Amec Foster Wheeler (AMEC) has announced that it has been awarded a contract and received notice to proceed by Tecnicas Reunidas SA and Samsung C&T EC UK to design and supply a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generator for the Tees Renewable Energy Plant, in Teesside, UK for MGT Teesside Ltd.
– We are very pleased to have Amec Foster Wheeler in this project as the boiler plant supplier with their extensive experience of large-scale biomass plants, said Ben Elsworth, CEO of MGT Power in a statement.
Amec Foster Wheeler will design and supply the 299 MWe (gross) unit of the baseload CFB power plant including auxiliary equipment and onsite technical advisory services for construction and supervisory services for commissioning.
Once it reaches its full 299-MW capacity in 2020, the boiler will be one of the world’s largest CFB boiler utilising only biomass as fuel.
MGT Teesside Ltd has also awarded long-term service agreement contract to Amec Foster Wheeler for boiler maintenance. Through this agreement, for a minimum term of five years, the owner will get Amec Foster Wheeler’s operations and maintenance experience and latest technology know-how.
