In Sweden, technology developer Mantex AB has received an order via its joint venture ATAB, for two Flow Scanner XL from Andritz AG for installation on a larger pulp mill outside Sweden."This is an important reference order because it is from a very large pulp mill of the kind that it is being built in other parts of the world right now," says Max Gerger, CEO of Mantex.

The order was placed by the Austria-headed international technology group Andritz AG and is part of a larger order from the current pulp mill project that Andritz has received. Andritz is a global manufacturer and supplier of equipment for the process industry and owns 51 percent of the joint venture company Andrtitz Technology AB (ATAB), in which Mantex owns the remaining 49 percent.
Since the joint venture company ATAB was formed in the spring of 2018, ATAB has been developing and selling Flow Scanner.
The idea of putting our Flow Scanner in a joint venture owned by Andritz was precisely that it would give us significantly better opportunities to market and sell the product. This deal is proof that the arrangement works as it was intended, said Max Gerger.
Large woodchip volumes
The current customer is a large pulp mill with the need to handle significant quantities of woodchips. The ordered scanners are therefore of Model XL, extra-large, and will be adapted on-site to be able to measure the larger quantities of chips that will be the issue when it comes to wider conveyor belts and larger flows of woodchips. According to the agreement, installation and commissioning will take place within 20 months.
The increasing need to replace plastics with new types of paper materials for environmental reasons leads to increased investments in paper mills worldwide. Several of the new mills that are now being built are very large and this order is therefore extra important as it broadens the market for our product, said Max Gerger.
