Austria-headed international technology company Andritz AG (ANDRITZ) has announced that it has successfully started up two recycled fiber lines at Lipy Paper Mills Ltd in Kanchpur, Bangladesh. These start-ups mark the debut of ANDRITZ recycled fiber (RCF) technology in the country’s paper industry.
Founded in 2016, Lipy Paper Mills Ltd is part of the Lipy Group, a family-owned Bangladeshi enterprise dedicated to producing premium paper products while adhering to the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable business growth.
Together, the two new lines have the capacity to process 150 t/d of locally sourced old corrugated cardboard and mixed office waste, converting it into recycled fibers for the production of premium testliner, writing, and printing papers.
These start-ups mark the debut of ANDRITZ recycled fiber (RCF) technology in the country’s paper industry.
Thanks to the dedicated ANDRITZ team, production started smoothly. We are proud to be the first to use ANDRITZ’s advanced RCF technology in Bangladesh. The energy-saving features of the two lines perfectly align with our strategic goal of sustainable operations, said Abdul Matin Khan, Managing Director, Lipy Paper Mills.
ANDRITZ supplied innovative technologies such as the PrimeScreen X pressure screen and PrimeFloat flotation system to minimize fiber loss, and an ultra-high dispersing system to reduce steam consumption.
We thank Lipy Paper Mills for their trust and partnership in pioneering our RCF technology in Bangladesh – this project marks another milestone in our commitment to supporting the paper industry worldwide with resource-efficient and innovative technologies, said Wei Shi, VP and Regional Manager of Paper & Textile APAC at ANDRITZ.
