After a year of stabilisation, the ENplus certification scheme has confirmed a renewed growth in certified volumes, reaching over 14.5 million tonnes of wood pellets in 2025, based on the data submitted by certified companies to the European Pellet Council (EPC), the managing body for ENplus.

According to a statement, ENplus remains the world-leading certification scheme for wood pellet quality, ensuring high standards across the entire supply chain and supporting the development of a transparent and reliable market.

With around 3.95 million tonnes of ENplus-certified pellets produced in 2025, Germany continues to top certified production. Austria follows with 1.89 million tonnes, while France ranks third with more than 1.08 million tonnes.

The Top 5 also includes Poland and Spain, both maintaining strong production levels and reinforcing Europe’s central role in certified pellet production.

Projections for 2026, based on submissions from certified companies, suggest a further increase in certified volumes, which are projected to exceed 15 million tonnes worldwide.

This trend confirms the resilience of the pellet market and the continued demand for high-quality certified products, commented Elena Dumitru, Certification Director for ENplus.

Poland remains the country with the most ENplus certified pellet producers, while Germany retains its position as the leader in certified pellet traders.

There has been a notable increase in the number of Chilean producers seeking certification, with more than 10 joining the scheme in the past year.

The ENplus fraud management team has further strengthened the scheme’s blacklist database by identifying fraudulent entities, as well as misleading websites and contact details that users should avoid.

To date, ENplus has successfully detected and resolved a total of 1,470 fraud cases – an achievement that underlines the scheme’s ongoing commitment to preserving its integrity and protecting its users.

In the past year, ENplus marked its 15th anniversary through a series of activities and events.

The scheme management also published the second edition of the standards related to the requirements for companies and the usage of the trademarks.

This represents a further step in the ongoing development of the ENplus certification scheme and reinforces its key role in the pellet market.
