Austria-headed international technology group Andritz AG has announced that it has received an order from Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) to deliver a PowerFluid Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler with flue gas cleaning system for a new 50 MWe biomass power plant to be built in Kamisu, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Located some 100 km to the east of Tokyo, start-up of the plant is scheduled in 2021.
According to Andritz, its PowerFluid Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler features lowest emissions, high efficiency and availability, and highest fuel flexibility. The plant will be fired with wood pellets as primary fuel and will have around 50 MWe output. The value of the order has not been disclosed.
The Obayashi Kamisu Biomass Power Plant project is the second order in a row for the supply of an Andritz PowerFluid CFB boiler for the Japanese market, demonstrating the company’s “extensive know-how and recognized expertise” in the biomass power boiler sector.
The company is a leading global supplier of power boiler technologies and systems for generating steam and electricity from renewable and fossil fuels, with a large number of very successful references worldwide.
