Austria-headed international technology group Andritz AG has announced that it has received an order from Swedish pulp major BillerudKorsnäs, to supply key process equipment to complement the main brown stock washing system preceding the sideline for their board machine at the Gruvön mill, Sweden.
BillerudKorsnäs is a leading player for liquid packaging board and a global leader in the production of high-porosity sack paper manufactured from primary fibers. In Europe, the company holds a leading position for primary fiber-based kraft paper, fluting, and pure white liner and is also one of the largest producers of cartonboard from primary fibers.
The scope of supply, the value of which has not been disclosed, includes an Andritz “COMPACT PRESS” Washer, one MC pump, and a standpipe. Start-up is scheduled for April 2021.
According to Andritz, the COMPACT PRESS Washer is characterized by its small footprint and high availability including extremely good washing efficiency, thus ensuring the production of high-purity pulp used for food packaging. It enables production capacities of over 6 000 admt per day per unit.
With over 125 very successful installations around the globe.long-standing experience in chemical pulping technology has provided a strong foundation for the COMPACT PRESS equipment and process know-how.
The order once again “confirms the excellent business relationship” between Andritz and BillerudKorsnäs. Andritz also supplied the DD-Washer, MC pumps, and a pulp Screw Press for the new brown stock washing sideline, which was successfully started up in 2019.
