AT-Tuote Oy, a privately-owned Finnish industrial chemical company is launching an "environmentally-friendlier" industrial lubricant internationally. AT Renewable Penetrating Lubricant is, the company says, the world’s first industrial lubricant with almost 100 percent bio-based content. The product is based on a new formulation: 95 percent of its content is derived from renewable sources with Neste MY Renewable Isoalkane being the key component.

with the OECD 301 test guideline, which makes it an environmentally-friendly component. Neste is currently the largest renewable fuel producer in Finland.
Thanks to its primarily bio-based content, AT Renewable Penetrating Lubricant has a significantly smaller carbon footprint than fossil alternatives. Furthermore, 95 percent of the content is also readily biodegradable. As the spray lubricant has carbon dioxide (CO2) as a propellant, it is also safe to use because of extremely low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) content and its non-flammable nature.
This type of a penetrating lubricant is in general used to release corroded parts, as well as to clean and give light lubrication. The new AT Renewable Penetrating Lubricant is developed from environmentally and user-friendly chemical components, and it performs even better than conventional penetrating lubricants. Combining renewable solvent and bio-based oil with a ceramic component enables dry lubrication and easy release. Non-flammable propellant is safe to use, said Jorma Virtanen, Managing Director at AT-Tuote.
AT Renewable Penetrating Lubricant can be safely used in all industrial, automotive, DIY applications, and will be internationally launched in the Nordics, Germany, the United States (US), Canada, Mexico and Brazil in spring 2020.

Neste MY Renewable Isoalkane, used either as is or further distilled, is a long-lasting, safe and odorless alternative to traditional mineral oils. It can replace fossil-based content in multiple applications, such as in paints, coatings and lubricants.
Neste MY Renewable Isoalkane is produced entirely from waste and residue oils and fats, and its use helps reduce fossil oil-based emissions to the atmosphere. It is readily biodegradable in accordance with the OECD 301 test guideline, which makes it an environmentally-friendly component.
