Germany-headed pumpable materials handling technology provider Börger GmbH has announced the launch of the "OrbitGrinder", a new solids cutting-basket macerator that helps protect wastewater treat plants and biogas pumps and downstream equipment by consistently mashing solids.

Specializing in the design, production, and selling of pumps, chopping units, separation technology, entry technology, stainless steel tanks, and agitator technology, the OrbitGrinder solids cutting basket macerator is the latest addition to Börger’s portfolio.

Star-shape blade design

First presented at this year’s IFAT in Munich, Germany, the feedback from trade fair visitors for the new solids macerator – which is based on a completely new macerating concept – was “overwhelming.”

Designed with pivoted cutting blades that adjust automatically, the OrbitGrinder cutting-basket macerator operates at an even cutting speed. Its cutting basket’s blades are arranged in a special star shape to maximize shredding and energy efficiency.

Not only is flow through the OrbitGrinder’s cutting basket homogenous, but the baffle plate also ensures that the suction force of the pump is evenly distributed.

Cutting baskets with different hole patterns can be used in the OrbitGrinder. In combination with flow and rotational speed, the maceration can be adjusted while impurities are sent into the debris collector.

Uniform results

Compared to standard, round perforated disks, the circumferential speed of the Orbitgrinder’s blades is the same at every cutting point, delivering uniform macerating results.

Macerators with round perforated disks also typically experience excessive wear of the cutting plates’ outer edge, whereas the OrbitGrinder’s design and durability significantly prolong its service life.

The OrbitGrinder’s simple inlet and outlet can be positioned at different angles to suit, and with the top and bottom parts connected by standard screws, this highly effective new solids macerator can be easily integrated into any existing system.

The Maintenance-In-Place design which includes a gas strut-assisted quick-release cover, makes servicing much easier than laborious alternatives.
