The Bracke P11 planter has been in production since the early 1990’s. The basic principle - to elevate and plant on inverted humus - has been the same throughout. However, the new Bracke P12 is designed for planting in dry, warm conditions where things are different.
The inverted humus principle, whereby the plant should be placed in the exposed mineral soil on top of the inverted humus with the plant roots reaching down in the humus layer, has been a hallmark of Swedish forest regeneration machinery manufacturer Bracke Forest AB, a company and brand within the Cranab Group.
However, when foresters in Brazil came across the P11 planter, they challenged the principle. In Brazilian eucalyptus plantations, the seedlings are planted in the indentation instead so that water runs towards the seedling rather than away from it.
New high-capacity plant magazine
As a result, the Bracke P12 planter was developed, and just as for the P11 a sub-soiler or ripper for scarification can be mounted.
A new high-capacity seedling magazine with up to three times more capacity than previously has been developed and can be fitted both on planter models.
The P12 has a built-in watering and fertilizer system to ensure that the seedling gets off to the best possible start as it is planted. These two newly developed functions can also be fitted as an extra option on the P11.
The new P12 planter along with a new mounder and disc-trencher will be launched at Elmia Wood.
