Austria-headed international technology group major Andritz AG (ANDRITZ) has announced that it has been selected to supply a new recovery boiler for Century Pulp and Paper’s mill in Lalkuan, Uttarakhand, India.
Established in 1984, Century Pulp and Paper is part of the Aditya Birla Group and is one of India’s largest manufacturers of paper, board, tissue, and pulp, operating from a single location.
The new recovery boiler, the value of which has not been disclosed, will replace one of the existing recovery boilers, increasing the mill’s green energy production.
With a capacity of 950 tds/d, the new recovery boiler will be supplied on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, with start-up scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Designed to process black liquor derived from a raw material mixture of hardwood, bamboo, and bagasse, the scope of supply includes an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) to ensure low particulate matter (PM) emissions at the stack.
Our new recovery boiler from ANDRITZ will significantly enhance our mill’s environmental performance and ensure a stable supply of green energy over a long period of time, commented Ajay Gupta, CEO of Century Pulp and Paper.
This is the seventh new recovery boiler ANDRITZ will deliver in India.
We greatly appreciate the trust placed in our team and technology. Our advanced recovery boiler technology offers substantial advantages in terms of safety, availability, and operational efficiency, said Sridhar Gopalan, Managing Director and CEO of ANDRITZ Technologies, India.
