Cepsa has announced that it has completed the EUR 8 million acquisition of the idled Abengoa Bioenergía S.A biodiesel plant in San Roque, Cádiz, Spain. Production is expected to restart during 2017.
Cepsa, a Spain headed energy and utility group wholly owned by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), has announced that it has completed the acquisition of the idled Abengoa Bioenergía S.A biodiesel plant in San Roque, Cádiz. The EUR 8 million binding offer was accepted and a new company, ‘Cepsa Bioenergía San Roque’ has been set up.
Built in 2009, the biodiesel plant is located adjacent to Cepsa’s refinery in San Roque and was shuttered in 2015. With an annual capacity to process ≈ 205 000 tonnes of vegetable oil into biodiesel, the plant previously supplied Cepsa with all its production.
It is designed to operate with different types of vegetable oils such as soy, rapeseed and crude palm oil (CPO). Cepsa has estimates production to resume during 2017.
