Czech-headed turbomachinery major Doosan Škoda Power, a Doosan Group subsidiary, has announced that it has signed a contract with CNIM, a French EPC company to supply a turnkey steam turbine set for the new energy from waste (EfW) plant being constructed at Lostock Gralam, near Manchester in the UK.

The set comprises a steam turbine generator with a capacity of 76.9 MWe. The plant is scheduled to launch operations in late 2023.
In recent years the Czech company has successfully delivered contracts in the waste and biomass incineration plant sector in the UK as well as in Ireland, Spain, and Turkey.
The United Kingdom is a very successful territory for us, and our turbines have a good reputation here thanks to our successful projects in recent years. Our engineers will also oversee the comprehensive assembly of the equipment, testing, and subsequent commissioning in this project, of course, said Tomáš Bayer, Sales Manager at Doosan Škoda Power.
The Lostock EfW facility will manage waste that would otherwise end up in landfills and provide energy back to the UK grid.
